Which Saved By The Bell Actor Turned Out Most Like Their Character?
August 28th, 2014
Many of us grew up with Zack, Kelly, Lisa, Slater, Jessie and Screech on Saved By the Bell, but after the series ended, what happened to the characters? We made our best guesses and compare them to how the real people who played the parts turned out.
With his good looks, charm and shockingly high SAT score (Jessie Spano will never forgive him), we could see Zack going on to do anything he wanted, from the CEO of a financial company to a high school principal like Mr. Belding. In real life, Mark Paul Gosselaar has enjoyed a successful acting career, with his most recent work on Franklin and Bash, which airs Wednesday’s at 9E/6P on M3. We think Zack would have been a great actor playing a lawyer. He’s got the right face for it.
Tiffany Theissen as Kelly Kapowski
Of course Zack and Kelly ended up together with a couple of shockingly attractive children. While Kelly dreamed of being an actress or a housewife, we pictured her finding her calling in Grad School and becoming a Social Worker. In real life, Theissen plays Elizabeth Burke on White Collar and is married to someone other than Mark Paul Gosselaar. We’re sure he’s very nice. Sigh.
Elizabeth Berkley as Jessie Spano
If we had to give another fictional character as an example of how we thought fictional character Jessie Spano would turn out, it would be Sex and The City’s Miranda Hobbs. Smart, independent and a great sense of style. Jessie Spano introduced feminism to millions of young viewers on Saved By The Bell and in real life, Berkley has been active in the animal rights community and created Ask-Elizabeth, a website where young girls can feel safe asking questions about everything from health to sexuality. Jessie Spano would approve.
Lark Voorhies as Lisa Turtle
We always imagined Lisa Turtle to have an exciting future in fashion and pop culture, maybe as the next Vera Wang or Giuliana Rancic. Unfortunately, Lark Voorhies’ recent forays into the spotlight have focused more on her odd behavior than her work.
Mario Lopez as AC Slater
With dimples for days and a smile that made (almost) every cheerleader swoon (Kelly did end up with Zack, afterall), AC Slater was destined to be on TV. In real-life, Mario Lopez is enjoying a successful career as an anchor on Extra! and has his own radio show. Albert Clifford could totally rock a red carpet and a microphone.
Dustin Diamond as Screech Powers
His robot friends and penchant for computers made us think Screech would end up a millionaire in silicon valley. Dustin Diamond ended up in porn…probably in Silicon Valley.
