So you may have noticed a video from European house group Swedish House Mafia popping up frequently in our daily playlist with their song “One (Your Name).” We may not have been familiar with them a few weeks ago but you know if Pharrell Williams is a fan they must be worth a listen. To help you become familiar we surveyed the internet to find out what their deal is. Check out their stats after the jump.
Members: Axwell, Sebastian Ingrosso, Steve Angello
Sounds like: David Guetta + Daft Punk + Usher
Critical cred: Axwell placed at #14 on the DJ Magazine Top 100 DJ Poll in 2009, Steve Angello placed at #20 and Sebastian Ingrosso is ranked #25.
The trio is also nominated for Best European Act at the 2010 EMAs.
“I see those guys as rock stars…The rock stars are the dance DJs, because they ultimately know how to go in and make people move by rocking their turntables and their sounds.” – Pharrell Williams
How “One (Your Name)” came to be: According to MTV.com, Pharrell and the boys of Swedish House Mafia kept running into each other at festivals. Pharrell took notice of one of their beats and was invited to collaborate with them. P.W. stopped by the studio one day while they were recording, played a few chords and sang his hook.
