Who Likes Futurama?

I’m pretty much the only person I know who likes Futurama, and that’s a shame. It’s true - I was once one of those wing wangs who was all, “ooohh, it’s nothing like the Simpsons, so it’s worthless!”. But then, like, I started watching it. And seriously? Geek humour at its BEST. I’m almost sure I love a good episode of Futurama as much as I love a good episode of the Simpsons, and that’s a bold statement.

Anywhence, last night I watched “Bender’s Big Score“, a straight-to-DVD movie and basically Futurama’s return to the universe. (The show was canceled in 2003, but has been revived for another season, which will begin with “Bender’s Big Score” broken into several episodes). It wasn’t as hilarious as Futurama at its best, but it was still quite good. But that’s not what I’m really here to talk about.

If you’ve seen the show, y’all know who HYPNOTOAD is. Well, in the DVD extras, there is a full 22-minute episode of “Everybody Loves Hypnotoad”. No joke, it’s pretty much 22-minutes of this:

It also includes commercial breaks and exterior set-up shots (hypnotoad goes speed dating!) And guess who watched the entire thing? That’s right, me. It’s ok, you can say it. I have no life. ALL GLORY TO THE HYPNOTOAD!

  1. I always thought I was a lone Futurama fan…good to know someone else out there is as addicted as me. Although, I do take issue with the misuse of the term “wing wang” because it’s used by Bender as substitute for bucks or dollars as in “12 orphans, 1200 wing wangs.” Ah well.

    Thanks for bringing up Futurama and the new DVD, you could have done it sooner like when the DVD actually came out a few months ago but better late than never, that’s for sure.

    And who doesn’t like Futurama, i’m gonna kick their shiny metal asses. I keep saying that they should have cancelled The Simpsons and let Futurama continue in it’s place. But oh well, who am I kidding, people are idiots and would rather watch this new Homer get hurt and yell for no real raisin than watch a cleverly written show.

  6. Futurama always seems to be on when nothing else is and i watch it every time. Much should try to bring back adult (not like xxx but, not for 6 year olds) cartoons. It would be an improvement from the OC every other hour. :)
