Who should Conan O’Brien sign to his comedy record label?

May 6th, 2014

Adam and Conan

Conan Brien is launching his own comedy record label under Team Coco and has already chosen comedian Ian Edwards as his first artist to be released under the company. Edwards recorded his stand up set 100% Half Assed at La Jolla Comedy Store in March, with the album set for a June release date.

The new label aims to provide a space for emerging comedians to get national exposure while also having a say in how their work is released. Here are a few comedians we would love to see signed to Team Coco’s new label.

Adam Devine

Conan and Workaholics star Adam Devine are already buddies, with Devine appearing on Conan’s show a number of times and even performing with O’Brien when he hosted the MTV VMAs this year. Devine has two hilarious TV shows under his belt, with Workaholics and Adam Devine’s House Party, and I would definitely buy an album that was two hours of him telling stories like this.

Chelsea Peretti

Most recently seen on The Kroll Show and Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Chelsea Peretti has yet to release a comedy album. Conan? Conan?

The Women of Broad City

Obviously Broad City’s Ilana Glazer and Abbi Jacobson’s album would be a visual one, a la BeyoncĂ©.

TJ Miller

TJ Miller is just on the cusp of becoming the next big star in comedy. You may recognized him from his movie roles in She’s Out of My League and Get Him To the Greek, having most recently accepted a starring role in HBO’s Silicon Valley. Miller has already released his own comedy album, but a record on Conan’s label could give him the exposure he deserves. His podcast Cashing In With TJ Miller is a so good that you’ll actually look forward to your commute to and from work.

John Mulaney

John Mulaney quickly became one of my favourite comedians after I first heard him do his stand up about Law and Order (worth the Google). The former SNL writer released a comedy album back in 2009, making this the perfect time to give the people what they want.

Jen Kirkman

A regular on Chelsea Lately, Jen Kirkman has recently joined the publishing world, releasing her first book I Can Barely Take Care of Myself. She’s released two comedy albums and I think it’s time for number three with Team Coco.
