Being famous for being you was sooooooo last year. 2011 was all about the alter-egos, and believe me, we did not have to dig very deep to find out that everyone has a secret persona they hide from the world. Except for Jon Calderone, Roman Zolanski, Shawty Many, Hannah Montana, Slim Shady and Sasha Fierce. They’re on stage, on albums, collaborating with different artists, and pretty much popping up everywhere you never thought you’d hear Lady Gaga, Nicki Minaj, Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus, Eminem or Beyonce.

Get the deets on all your favourite alter-egos, then ask yourself, which one would you rather have over for Christmas?

1. Lady Gaga & Jon Calderone

We might have thought that Lady Gaga covered the map when it came to craziness. She clearly marches to the beat of her own drums, wears whatever she wants, smears blood all over herself, performs with blue pubes, and who knows what else we could list (there’s a lot). But then the 2011 MTV VMAs happened and we met Jon Calderone. Now he’s even crazier. Talking about pleasuring himself and Britney Spears, and pretty much acting like the host of the ceremony when there was clearly no host needed. What did you think about Lady Gaga’s introduction of Jon to the world?

2. Nicki Minaj – Roman Zolanski

Whereas Nicki is badass and sweet at the same time….Roman is angry and angrier at the same time. If that’s not enough, Roman’s even teamed up with Eminem’s alter ego Slim Shady for the sick track “Romans’ Revenge”. It’s awesome to listen too (especially if you’re in a foul mood) but I’ll always choose bubblegum coloured hair Nicki over scary, aggressive Roman any day.

3. Justin Bieber – Shawty Mane

He may make you swoon as he sings Somebody To Love or Under The Mistetoe – but don’t let that fool you. Under the squeaky clean image of his lies a hardcore rapper ready to get out! Whenever it floats his boat, Justin Bieber trades in his popstar image for his more urban persona Shawty Mane. Something tells me hanging out with street Justin would be waaaaaay more fun than popstar Justin. What do you think?

4. Beyonce – Sasha Fierce

Before she turns it on for the cameras and rocks the stage, Beyonce has to channel her inner, confident self, Sasha Fierce. Also the name of her third album, it’s the persona she adapts when she gives it her all singing, performing, and being overall fabulous.

5. Miley Cyrus – Hannah Montana

When she’s not blazing up the big screen as Miley Cyrus, she’s hitting the stage as Hannah Montana, her rock’n'rolling alter ego! Spawning a hit series and a few movies, Hannah’s made quite the name for herself among young girls. But now that Miley’s career is surpassing her alter ego’s, will we ever see Hannah again?

6. Eminem – Slim Shady

Also known as Eminem’s angrier, unfiltered self. Also known as the persona we love hearing the most in his raps. Slim Shady has been around for years, but recently made a friend with Nicki Minaj’s Roman Zolanski. Here’s hoping they team up again on Nicki’s second album in 2012!
