May the 4th marks a pretty spectacular moment for indie rock. Today sees the release of the loooong-awaited fourth album by Broken Social Scene (it’s been five years, y’know), as well as the latest by power pop masters The New Pornographers and bar rock bringers The Hold Steady.
Few Tuesdays this year will see the callibre of these three artists, which makes today feel a little more monumental than usual. So, whose album should you buy? Well, all of them, silly. But really, if you can only choose one, why not have a taste and then decide.
All three bands have dates coming up in Canada too. Broken Social Scene play Toronto’s Olympic Island on Saturday June 19th, The New Pornographers are playing multiple dates across Canada in June (check out all the date here) and The Hold Steady are playing Toronto on July 16th and Montreal on the 17th.
