A whole year ago, Antonella posted on this very blog about Leona Lewis and her cover of Snow Patrol’s “Run” that was recorded during a radio performance with the BBC. Leona was still making a name for herself and mega-hit “Bleeding Love” hadn’t even hit North America yet. But at the time, Antonella was transfixed by Leona’s amazing cover and so was I.
Leona has now done an official studio recording of “Run” (which will be featured on the reissue of her album Spirit) and will be released as her latest single. It’s brilliant and (dare I say) better than the original.
But the real reason that I love Leona is because she recently performed the song on Britain’s X-Factor… and it’s incredible. She sings LIVE! In a world of pre-recorded vocals and lip-syncing to be able to sing LIVE, and sing live well, is rare. I mean, Mariah Carey, the one who is supposed to be Leona’s predecessor, also recently performed on X-Factor and it was just aiight. Well when you’re showin’ up Mariah Carey, I think you’re doing something right.
Watch Leona’s X-Factor performance here and prepare to be dazzled. It’s good, no?

Personally, I think that BOTH Leona & Mariah SUCK. They have no talent they can’t sing, and they are both just OVERRATED crappy “popstars.”
Oh, and Mariah was on the season finale of Canadian Idol and she was (gasp)lip singing until half way through her last song.
