Wii Want One!

Over a year has passed since the Nintendo Wii was released, but who knew that the Holiday Item of the Year is… the Nintendo Wii?! Wasn’t this the sold-out, must-have, “it” toy of the LAST Holiday Season???

The reason I bring this up is that over the weekend, I got it in my head that I wanted one of these puppies and that I wanted it NOW. Not as a gift to give to a loved one, but as a gift to myself: to become a pale, anti-social gamegeek. But there were so many obstacles in my way! Namely that these fun, affordable systems were no where to be found! I searched the Futureshops, BestBuys, Toys ‘r Us’s, HMV’s and even Shoppers Drug Marts, and left all of them empty handed. And don’t even get me started on the going-prices of a “not opened, still in the box” console on eBay or craigslist. It’s plain ol’ extortion!

So what’s up with the Wii? Why is it still so highly coveted while the latest XBoxes and PlayStations are still highly stocked and readily available? Could it be that the Wii is the superior gaming system?

Whatever the case may be, I don’t gots one, so excuse me while I go have my own Mario Pity Party… with my dusty Nintendo 64.

  4. N64 goldeneye is still one of the best games ever and it to was the game of the year for 97 and 98 so hold your tongue bashing that dusty N64.

  5. @Neroz: totally agree. i used to play N64’s Goldeneye so often that when i closed my eyes at night to fall into a peaceful slumber, i would actually start dreaming of Goldeneye multiplayer. it was creepy. and quite sad.

Ya know I gotta say I still enjoy a good mario party on the ol’ dusty N64 lol, but I agree the Wii is hard to get ahold of and to be honest I’d rather have a nintendo with some sort of game diversity than an xbox360 or playstation 3 that i’d end up paying 500 bucks for just to have the same choice of video games on either system… perhaps that’s why they’re still stocked while the Wii is MIA…
