…With A Little Help From iTunes

November 16th, 2010

The Beatles are on iTunes! One of the most iconic and timeless bands ever has officially entered the digital age this morning with their catalog of music available for download on Apple’s iTunes.

Their songs, listened too by peeps chilling in the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and the 00s, have long been tied up between Apple Inc. and Apple Corps. squabbling over who owns the music rights, citing issues over brand name and logo use. Their battle lasted 30 years.

But all the fighting ended yesterday as Apple.com posted on their site a teaser of four clocks: an homage to the Beatles 1965 album Help! with the tagline “Tomorrow is just another day. That you’ll never forget“.

Apple.com is expected to make the announcement of the Beatle going digital official today at 3PM GMT.

The expected announcement contradicts Yoko Ono‘s statement in August that fans shouldn’t expect Beatles songs on iTunes for a while.

However, Paul McCartney‘s words last May have shed some light on the hold-up, saying “it’s been business hassles, not with us or iTunes….it’s the people in the middle, the record label. There have been all sorts of reasons why they don’t want to do it.

Either way, today marks the day Lucy’s officially in the sky….with iTunes. Whoop Whoop!
