Toronto Fashion Week (#TFW) has been blowing up the Twitterverse here in Toronto since it began late last week. Though clearly not as grandiose and glamorous as New York or Milan Fashion Week, Toronto is a buzz, with beautiful people and beautiful style photographers peppering the streets of King and Peter and the Yorkville area. It’s the Toronto fashionista’s time to shine and shine brightly they do!
I was lucky enough to attend the Chloe Commes Parris and Martin Lim shows on Tuesday. At Chloe Commes Parris we saw gorgeous, witchy ensembles with lots of heavy black and Salem-inspired hair buns. Martin Lim was all about lines and dimensions, sticking to one or duo tones locked in strict square and rectangular shapes for his pieces. Press and media snapped away photos and the day was done.
There are still tons more shows to go and I’m sure the blogosphere is erupting with glee at the collections we’ve seen. Hopefully, Canadian talent will battle through the cut-throat business of fashion and rise to the top. We’ve got some crazy good designers that deserve just as much recognition as Kate Spade and Tory Burch get!
