You can call it the unofficial 2011 YouTube tour. Greyson Chance and Cody Simpson, both discovered on YouTube (Chance – Ellen, Simpson – Shawn Campbell, producer for Jay-Z among others) are touring together this spring. All they need now is for Justin Bieber (discovered on YouTube by talent manager Scooter Braun) to join them.
The tour is officially called Waiting4U, playing on Chance’s single Waiting Outside The Lines and Simpson’s Album 4 U. The pair (who are also the same age BTW – they were both born in ’97) announced the news yesterday evening in an interview with Billboard.com.
Chance was quoted saying “me and Cody, we relate to each other…we’re both around the same age, and we’re both somewhat doing the same thing, but I think what’s great about this tour is it’s going to be showing two sides of pop music. I’m more of a pop-rock style, and Cody is more dance-pop. So it’s going to be cool for the fans to see the differences in the ways that we relate…I think it’s going to be an amazing tour.”
Simpson chimed in saying he can’t wait to see all the American cities. The 13-year-old is currently living in Australia. Simpson will be playing the songs off his new album (to be released March 17) and Chance will perform songs he’s currently working on for his debut album to be released soon.
The tour starts in Denver, Col. on April 11 and will hit 24 cities before it’s last stop on May 18 in Portland, Ore. So far there are not Canadian dates on their schedule.Tweet
